Report Card: (Report Card) : A Mind of Her Own

The long meeting with the rescue staff ended on a positive note as they were approved to adopt a new horse. The volunteer smiled at Will and Percy as she finished putting together a file on Fujiko. "I'm glad you think she'd be a good fit for your barn. She's been...less happy here. We just don't have the resources to keep her occupied."

Before he could respond, a loud clang drew everybody's attention, followed by a frustrated shout. "Hey! Get back here!" All three of them quickly got to their feet, peering out into the barn hall. 

To Will's surprise, a familliar face was making her way out of the barn. Fujiko, looking completely pleased with herself, had obviously found a way to undo the latch on her stall and was on her way out to the paddock. She paused when she saw Will, looking right at him and letting out a soft huff. The rescue had warned Will and Percy that the mare was intelligent and mischevious and she was certainly living up to her reputation. She radiated confidence, completely unpreturbed that she was breaking the rules. 

As she gazed back at Will, he thought he could see a spirited light in her eyes. "Hey, Fujiko!" He said, reaching out to let her snuffle  at his hand. "If you're already out and about, want to come home with us?" Despite the fact that she couldn't answer, he was sure her answer would have been 'yes'.
