Where the shores meet adoption
Ayla walked the adoption center of the newest breed of horses she discovered, Loshenkas. She walked down the path along the paddocks holding the adult babes and paused considering each one. She sighed as none seemed interested in her and in same none caught her eye. Remembering that the foals were in the barn, Ayla turned and followed the path inside. There she saw the cutest little mare- A black splash babe with beautiful blue eyes. Her tail was long and split right down the middle black and white. The babe nickered at Ayla and stuck her nose to the bars- inhaling deeply at her; possibly looking for a snack. “Sorry little one, my pockets are barren today” She giggled as her reached to pet the foal’s snoot. Ayla looked at the sign on the stall door giving her more information; She is indeed a black splash and carries the rapunzel gene, meaning her tail would be super long. “That’s gonna be a lot of grooming and braiding,” Ayla murmurs to herself as she thinks this over. She also reads her lineage and is happy that there’s a small record- that lets her know that her previous owners definitely cared for the babe. A soft whiny sounds from the stall and Ayla laughs again as she looks at the babe. The foal has placed her hooves on the wall to look better at her. “You want to come home with me don’t you?” She questions as she pets the babe again. The foal pressing her nose into her hand was all the confirmation that she needed. Ayla went to the barn manager and purchased the babe. Adding this cute little addition to the new ranch that she’s creating.
The following day Ayla got up early to head back to the adoption center to pick up the foal. Once there she opens her small trailer and heads to meet the barn manager- just to cover her bases before leaving with the foal. Thanking her she heads to the stall- happy to find a brand new halter hung on the stall door the same color as the fillies bright blue eyes and a long black lead rope. The stall manager let her know the filly is halter broke- but can be stubborn to move. Entering the stall with the halter in hand, she was immediately greeted by the babe. The filly shoved her head into her chest catching her long red hair between them as Ayla laughs, “Oh you’re a little pushy too. Come on- back up” She pushes on the foal to force a step back and slides the halter over the foals face, clipping the lead rope on. She starts to walk out the stall as she notices the filly pause at the entrance- leaning her head down as she sniffs the ground. Her ears are pricked forward as she paws the ground- seemingly unsure about it. Ayla reaches in her coat pocket and pulls out a carrot, “ Come on little one- not too far to the trailer.” Ayla holds out the carrot and lets the babe sniff it before biting. The filly nods her head as she chews in appreciation before stretching to grab another bite. “Ah- you gotta come out of there for the next one,” She says as she puts a little pressure on the halter, trying to signal what she wishes. The filly leans back against the pressure briefly before suddenly moving forward, almost knocking into Ayla as it tries to get the carrot again. Ayla laughs yet again at the silliness of the foal and lets it have another small bite before leading her to the trailer. They have another pause at the entrance but immediately smelled the hay she had in the hay net inside. Thus the filly went in with no complaints- obviously a food motivated babe.
On the drive to the stables everything was calm and smooth sailing- pulling in her arctic Goliaths neighed towards the truck- knowing these 20hh giants definitely could crush this filly she had already decided to have a separate stall and paddock away from them. She pulls next to the entrance of the barn and parks. Going inside she makes sure everything is set up for the filly and then opens the trailer. The pretty girl is still standing pretty munching on a mouthful of hay. Untying her she slowly walks her off the trailer- letting the babe take her time to learn the dip. The filly- though hesitant at first- seems to trust Ayla. Maybe the food helped strengthen this trust for the time being. Ayla brings her to her stall, sticking her in a freshly made 10 x 10 stables with an attached paddock in the back. Though she left that door closed for the moment. Ayla unhooks the lead rope and let the filly explore the stall before she grabs a brush. “I think you’ll be named Wynter,” She says to the filly. Giving her the barn name solidifies it in Ayla’s mind- She just got another filly. Her hands will definitely be full with the other 2 goliath foals. She sighs as she lets the filly sniff and play with the brush. Giving the babe a pat on the neck she begins to give the filly a small brush down to see how dirty the babe is. “Maybe tomorrow you can have a bath after the vet checks you out,” Ayla mumbles to herself as she checks over the babe even closer now- looking for any marks, injuries, anything. After a satisfying inspection, Ayla opens the door to the paddock attached to the stables and lets the foal run out. Nodding to herself, she leaves the barn to get set for the next coming days of vet checks and trainings for the new babes.
Wynter is the new nickname of the baby.
