[Gift] Drawlloween [Short story 8] - Happy Ghosts

"Wtf is that..." I whisper.

But Charles just stares forward. We both fixate it and wait for a movement, but it's just a weird still shape in the fog. A moment passes and suddenly we hear a noise; it almost sounds like a low giggle.

And the next thing we see is that thing charging at us- Charles somehow jumpstarts faster than me and his hoofs slip on the gravel. He speeds across me and I run after him as fast as I can.

The laughing continues and definitely follows us; as I dare to look behind, I see this white ghost-like thing with a huge grinning mouth. I scream at full volume and run even faster, almost passing Charles.

We cross the next path and more laughter comes from the side- another ghost comes at us from the right and we scream together now. I duck under a little branch and Charles just runs straight through it; ripping the whole thing off.

A heavy bell rings from somewhere and a third giggling spirit spawns in front of us at the end of this way.

We cut the corner and run into the left-over direction. "WALL!!!" I scream terrified and Charles shouts back "JUMP!" and we both lunge over the rock wall. "Oof!" We land in dirt, but immediately start sliding downhill. Charles on his back with all four legs into the air; and me on my butt; trying to stop somehow with my hooves. But there's no chance, and we land on the far bottom of this slope.

We lay there together, completely exhausted and shocked from what just happened. As we look back up there, we can't spy any ghost anymore. "They probably can't leave the graveyard....?!" I question while huffing and puffing.

Charles still looks terrified and I suggest we rest for a moment and then see how to get out of this ditch.
