Drawloween - Disturbing Mines

Hiding? Marrow wasn't hiding. Okay, maybe he's hiding a little. He'd been left tied up for the evening while their riding party camped nearby. Just a quick overnight trip, the last of the season. Everyone was in good spirits, telling stories around the fire into the small hours of the evening. Excellent, distracted. More than distracted enough for Marrow to slip away unnoticed. While Sabela sat quietly among Wyatt and the others, the dark stallion had a few tricks up his sleeve. Waiting for a quiet moment to chew the knot on his leadline free, he's rather pleased with himself. Still, the movements can't be too big. Nope, can't draw attention to himself like that.

Watching carefully for a moment before creeping away from the rest. He would allow his eyes to adjust to the darkness the further it crept in. Moving away from the fire's light and into a comfortable dark, every step from the dark stallion oozes confidence. He's free of the light, and of the prying eyes of his rider. Exploring, taking in the landscape-- that's the name of the game now. One foot in front of the other, a deep breath drawing in the full breadth of the adventure... hell yeah.

The entrance to the mine is a set of wide tracks, wide enough for a donkey and cart. Hey, wide enough for Marrow, even if the tunnel was a bit short. Stooping, he enters the mine with great interest. Excitement, intelligence shining through in his dark eyes, Marrow could feel the must and strange scent as it flooded his lungs. This place was dangerous, and he didn't have a moment to waste. They would probably notice him gone and try to retrieve him soon, after all. Hurrying deeper, Marrow feels the ground crumble beneath his feet. Dry dirt coming up in clods around his hooves, but he wouldn't panic. Not yet.

Though he scrambles to regain his footing, Marrow was already starting to slip. Sliding on the loose dirt and ground as he moves deeper into the tunnel, it's all he can do not to hold his breath. Okay, maybe this place was creepy. Spooky. A chill dripping down his spine as he tracks bats taking off, not far down the mine shaft. They fly overhead, the black stallion's surprised cry echoing through the vacant space. A crash somewhere far off, the sound of a cart coming loose on the tracks. In his panic, Marrow doesn't know which direction to move.

Another panicked cry, filling the small space. Heart pounding in his chest, and the rush of blood in his ears. Oh no, this is bad. This is bad-bad. Though he takes off in the direction he's entered, Marrow doesn't know quite where his legs are in the panic. The mines may have been too much, after all.
